Establishing a telematics ecosystem that supports the participation of both OEM franchise service operations and independent auto care parts and service providers will ensure that consumers will continue to have choices on where their vehicles are serviced.

The Telematics Task Force understands that people care about where their vehicles are serviced and that the aftermarket is often preferred. They build relationships that last for years. In the J.D. Power 2014 Survey of Canadian Customer Commitment, which rates “overall service experience satisfaction”, for example, six of the top ten preferred auto service providers were aftermarket locations as opposed to OE dealerships. Our attitude is that the choice of servicing location should be the vehicle owner’s decision. Therefore, car owners and all shops that provide vehicle repair services should be treated equally in their access to repair information.
